No matter what the conditions, always exhibit the passion
As a surfer, I know that the conditions aren’t always perfect. There might be some days where the ocean is out of control and stormy; there might be days when it is completely flat. There might be days with perfect waves, but first the forty degree water and twenty degree air temperature must be braved. Yet, somehow, I always find a way to surf. I am dedicated and determined to paddle out, catch a wave, and find that soul-satisfying reward that is riding it.
As a teacher, I know that some days will be harder than others. Some days I might come into a classroom and face the most frustrating challenges. Yet, I need to always let my passion persevere, and no matter what the conditions, to always try to reach the students and to keep the same level of energy and enthusiasm I would have while surfing. My surfing attitude should be the same as teaching: no matter what the conditions are, no matter how big or small the waves are, every day is perfect because I am out in the ocean doing what I love. No matter what the conditions are in teaching, every day needs to be a display of the passion I have for the profession.
Constant informal assessment and the monitoring of student learning is required by any good teahcer. Here you will find some formal assessments I designed based on my lesson plans and my students' needs for evaluation:
