End of the year comments about my teaching performance from my cooperating teacher, Ms. Susan Sharp of Gloucester High School:

"Drew is a compassionate teacher who has a sincere desire to know his students and help them to improve. His actions have shown this since he first began teaching and working with the students. He is energetic, congenial, and approachable; moreover, the students recognize all of these things when they need additional guidance. He is patient with struggling students and recognizes their struggles before they express a need for extra help. His creativity is evident when he plans lessons that incorporate humor, wit, music, art, and photography; he engages students and plans lessons that appeal to a variety of learners. He is also flexible and had demonstrated his ability to “go with the flow” when we have had to make last minute changes. He has responded well to suggestions for how to adjust lessons and make changes to challenge students more or meet them at their level. His main struggle has been planning in advance, but I feel certain this will come with experience. His professional demeanor, intelligence, and insight have earned respect for him- among his peers and the students. He is a delight to work with and will be an exemplary teacher. I have learned from his methods and fresh perspective."

My Potential for Professional Leadership

Interview with Gloucester H.S. Librarian

I understand the importance of being part of the school community; therefore I took the time to interview the librarian at Gloucester High School.  I teach heavily with technology, so I decided that the best place to start for an interview would be with the school librarian.

Gloucester High School Technology Sheet

As a teacher, it is important to have a good understanding of the resources available to work with.  Being the contemporary English teacher that I am, I though the best place for me to start would be to take a technological inventory of what was available for me and the students to use at Gloucester High School.

Diversity Analysis

Special Needs Students

As part of my role as a professional leader, I need to understand varying issues, such as diversity issues in a school and adapting to special needs students.  In these two documents, I examine the importance and impact both will have on my teaching.
