My Personal Statement and my Resume
I am writing this letter to you from the heart – the heart of a young, enthusiastic, passionate, and eager-to-be high school teacher.
As a graduate of The College of William and Mary with a degree in English and Education, I truly believe I have discovered myself through this recursive teaching and learning experience. Student teaching has re-ignited my love and appreciation of literature. It has allowed me to take the passion I have for the subject and convert that into energy and zealous enthusiasm – two staples of my teaching that really connect me with my students.
While teaching both my AP English II students and general English I literature directly to a student’s life so that they can become a part of the text; I teach with a spark and fervor that captures and holds; I help students believe that they can, and will, succeed. My students find that I encourage them to think and feel more than anything else. I display myself as nothing short of a positive role model – someone that the students can look up to. My ultimate goal is to create a student-centered, community-based environment in the classroom, so that students can learn while feeling safe, comfortable, positive, and productive.
I confidently assert that I can make a difference in the ever-changing and ever-needing youth. I can take my passion for teaching and learning and make students believe. I can stimulate their minds so that they can see and understand the power and importance of education and intellect.
Thank you. I sincerely appreciate your time in reading this letter. I hope that my honesty, passion, and confident character have fittingly and willingly displayed themselves in a respectable manner. Please know that the best part of teaching for me is the opportunity to be myself, while knowing that who I am and how I teach both have the ability to create a better future and a stimulating classroom experience for our youth.
Respectfully,
Drew Zailik
